The World of Leithu

Leithu is a parallel world existing alongside, yet separate from, the protagonists’ reality (Earth). It representative of an alternate version of Earth’s ancient past where magic existed and remained potent, shaping its environment, inhabitants, and history. It is a world teeming with magical energy, inhabited by ancient races, unique mythical creatures (some benevolent, some terrifying, like the dragons Scoria and Forenthus, or the shadow-born Umbraks), and dangerous fauna capable of challenging even formidable beings. Access between Leithu and Earth is extremely rare, possible only through unstable portals or “weak points” or chronal currents, between dimensions, such as the Shed activated by the Spyglass. The history of Leithu is deeply intertwined with the “Traveler,” Zephron Colombo Ferreriya, and his wife, the early magic user Jasari – ancestors to both Cassidy, Evan, and Yaresch. Much of Leithu’s ancient past, including lost kingdoms and powerful artifacts, remains shrouded in legend.
Geography
Leithu consists of vast oceans surrounding five major continents, each with diverse and often treacherous terrains mirroring and exceeding Earth’s variety.
Treggor:
The largest continent and the initial setting. It boasts immense geographical diversity:
- Southern Peninsula: Where the shed portal and ‘beach hut’ align the two worlds in Book 1.
- Forests & Waterways: Significant ancient forests lie north of the southern peninsula, bordered by the main Forgotten River and it’s tributaries. The complex river networks and vast swamplands dominate the central plains. To the immediate north of the Forgotten River is the large Elysium Lake.
- Coastal Regions: Includes the area around Rentai Village and Port Rentai (in Leithu), characterized by beaches, coves, and proximity to the Great Sea.
- Mountains & Highlands: Features mountainous regions, including ranges where a hidden prison of Pranshu is located (Book 2) and the “Higher Lands” historically inhabited by strange creatures and ancient dragons. Legends speak of a magically hidden cave in the northern highlands, once occupied by the creatures under control of Fentor.
- Other Features: Contains the Magic Grove where the Brilliant Lantern resides (Book 2 – 3). A rough Pirate Port exists elsewhere on its coast. The north is likely the territory of the fierce dragon Scoria.
Curanor:
A continent potentially comprised of three main islands. Known locations include:
- Wolf Kingdom: A territory ruled by the tyrannical Wolf King.
- Bird Peak: A towering mountain refuge, home to the Birdmen.
- Sky World: A mysterious floating city or platform located high above, accessible from Bird Peak.
- Historical Note: The ancient dragon Aanahkaas had his labyrinthine lair on Curanor’s coast.
Ofima:
A harsh, ice-covered continent dominated by frozen mountains, glaciers, and relentless cold.
- Key Features: Home to the cursed, ancient ruins of Sorentha, haunted by undead creatures including wraiths and potentially turned dragon kin.
- Contains the Garreldin region in its southern portion, considered one of the harshest and coldest places in Leithu.
- Native habitat of the Phalzen, the large docile creatures used in early cargo trains of Treggor.
Silfar:
A desolate southern continent with a mix of arid deserts, forests, and salt rivers.
- Key Features: Location of the ancient dragon Forenthus’ lair.
- Historically associated with powerful dark wizards, including Fentor.
Ryflin:
A geologically active, volcanic continent characterized by active volcanoes, extensive lava fields, and extreme heat.
- Key Feature: Location of the Crown of Triton, hidden within a volcanic labyrinth, possibly guarded.
